I hope y'all are reading this and learning from this. This is GOLD! Check out tq's post before you hit training, it will make the session all the more enlightening and worthwhile. We've got a few pages in the playbook (in the members area) which might give you some other cutting ideas too.
What I really take from tq's efficient summary of cutting is that YOU WILL NEED TO RUN TO GET THE DISC. If you're standing still thinking, I'm free, give me the disc: forget it! You're not an option, you'll be D'd by the time you get the disc! It will take time to understand what cuts are effective for you, it's tricky finding an effective way of getting away from you marker such that a thrower can put a disc into your path. Everyone has their own limitations, whether it be speed, height, turning direction, acceleration. But even a short, slow, poor turner with limited acceleration, can still use efficient techniques which will give them space from the marker to get the disc AND make the thrower want to make that pass. And if you can't get away from your D man, don't even worry - that's expected sometimes, just remember to get the hell out of the way (clear out to the stack asap) so someone else can try. But tq's thoughts about TIMING, as well as positioning and methods are really worth thinking about and trying to adjust your game to accommodate some new ideas. Just some thoughts. Enjoy training!
Nice work tq. Like J and MacDonalds, I'm Lovin' it.
