Do you want to play frisbee on 3rd and 4th July? In Coventry? Read on...

(there is a summary at the bottom)

ANNOUNCING BROADSIDE 2010...

Hey Whip

Myself and a couple of friends are putting together an Ulty tournament this summer. At this point in time, it's invite only, and we basically want teams we like to be there, plus we're trying to keep it all at a fairly decent level of play. Hence, we'd like to invite Kent along.

It's going to be a 16 team outdoor Open tournament, held in Coventry on 3rd & 4th July, just off Junction 2 of the M6.

We've managed to bag ourselves an amazing venue, the pitches look fantastic, there's onsite free parking and camping, there's a massive bar with Sky Sports on plasma screens, a cafe serving up grub, a grandstand, a viewing balcony, a Morrisons just over the road, hotels nearby, plus the usual changing rooms, lots of hot showers, physio and paramedic. We'll also be having a few beers together on the friday night, and then a party on the saturday night in the bar, with music, dancing and reasonably priced drinks!

We're really pleased that they've allowed us the venue for the weekend! Our aim is to run a great tournament, with great facilities and great Ultimate. All of the other teams that we've invited are about the same high level as you guys, which we hope will make for some competitive Ultimate. It's going to be a UKUA Sanctioned event, so you can be assured that it'll be a slickly run tournament (no trekking miles for water, no dodgy schedules, no uneven pitches, etc...).

Anyways, lets cut to the chase, we want you to be there, we hope you want to be there too, if so, please transfer £175 into our account...

Bank: Barclays, Name: Nicola Thomas, Sort Code: 20-23-06, Account Number: 00338745

...be sure to put your team name as a reference, and drop me an email letting us know. Please do this as soon as possible, as there are other teams that have shown an interest, but we wanted to offer you the opportunity to get in there first!

In Summary:
Open Outdoor Tournament, Coventry
Sat 3rd & Sun 4th July 2010
Team Fee = £175 (to be paid now)

Because he's saying 'to be paid now', if you want to put your name down, then if we get enough interest, we'll ask for £20 tourney fee up front to cover it. If we get loads o' players, then we can refund some of this.

If you want to play, but can't give up that £20 just yet, then put it up here. If loads of people do that, then we'll email the T.D. We've got a good relationship with Lemmings, and it seems like they've got a wicked venue sorted out.

Should be good y'all! It'll be literally fun, the sun will shine (it's during the summer!), beer and silliness will ensue, there will be chicks/dudes to pull (I'm not promising anything, Pete, but I'd say you've got a great chance - maybe that South African lass will be there...), Frisbee will be played, the level won't be too high so we can challenge near the top, but it won't be too high so we can dick about and have a lol. I'm sorry that I can't be there myself. I really need to get back to Lucas soon as he's giving out invites.

If you're a student and you fancy it, don't be scared, sign up! This is your chance to get some more Ultimate during the summer! We can work out travel plans nearer the time, but I'm sure we can find you a lift part of the way from wherever you are in the country, even if we have to ask another team to give you a ride!

Forgot to say...

'I'm up for this! I have put £20 on my desk. That is my deposit.'

When we have, oh, 10 people say

'I'm up for this! I have put £20 on my desk. That is my deposit.'

We will send the cheque, collect the deposit, and carry on recruiting more playas ('players' also welcome) in an attempt to spread the tounrey fee, and spread the fun times.

Nominate Davey Mac to speak up next...

Hey,

Apologies, it seems I got the sort-code wrong on account for the £175 Broadside Tourney Fee.

It should be...

Bank: Barclays, Name: Nicola Thomas, Sort Code: 20-23-60, Account Number: ********

...apologies for this. We're going to announce it on BritDisc soon, probably start of next week, so try and get it sorted before then, and let me know when you have.

Cheers, Lucas.

Yo,

there's a reminder post about this tournament just gone out.

They're saying tooting tigers, burro electrico and EMO are all signed up, so there will be a good standard of ultimate to watch and play against.

At present, there isn't enough interest to send off a cheque though.....

if you wanna play some frisbee, put your name down here!

At the moment I want my face to be at every tournament this summer I am allowed to attend, it is literally dependant on finances, so I can't say for definite. Although I am comfortable of donating a large portion of my next student loan (18th March, I believe) payment to guarantee places.

So, I am a provisional yes, I'll have to pay you when my loan comes in though, July 3/4 is a while away though, so maybe maybe?

Yo,

I'm tempted to cut the head off this one, and leave its bloody corpse rotting in the corner somewhere.

I'd rather people prioritized going to tour over this tournament (as good as it looked), and I assume that's what people are doing.

So, instead of trying to free up another weekend for ultimate, make sure anyone you know is getting married on this weekedn instead of a tour weekend. Because you are coming to tour!

I'm back from working in Florida at the end of June.

If you guys are putting in a team for Broadside, count me in. I'm definitely going, train ticket already booked!
